Flagging off the First Eco-Friendly train at ICF

Integral Coach Factory has been in the forefront in taking green initiatives and has taken several steps in this regard. As part these initiatives the first ‘Eco-friendly’ CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) DEMU (Diesel Electrical Multiple Unit) was flagged off on 09.09.2014 by Shri Ashok K. Agarwal, General Manager in the presence of Senior Officials and staff. The first CNG DEMU manufactured at ICF has the mechanism to run on duel fuel engine using the CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) as an alternate fuel to Diesel. 

The CNG DEMU power car consists of Driver’s cab, Engine Room, Radiator Room, passenger compartments. The eco-friendly technology for Indian Railways has been developed by IROAF (Indian Railway Organisation for Alternate Fuels). IROAF has placed an order for eight CNG conversion kits on M/s Cummins India Ltd. which will be fitted in ICF manufactured DEMU’s.
