Creating Voting Awareness

Low polling area at Anna Nagar Constituency particularly at Kilpauk was identified by Election Commission when comparing the voter’s turn out during the 2009 Lok Sabha Elections. In order to create more awareness and increase the voting turn out, a mega programme was organised by Chennai Corporation Zone 8 at Ega Theatre Complex. 

A rally and a human chain by students of St.Thomas Arts and Science College, Koyambedu was an important event during the programme. The rally was flagged off by Mr.Vikram Kapur I.A.S, Commissioner, Chennai Corporation. Mr.Elangovan, Assistant Commissioner Zone-8 also participated in the programme. Apart from a model polling booth, demonstrations on the use of electronic voting machines were conducted at low polling areas. The event was aimed to raise awareness on voting among the general public.
