The NSS Students of RKM Sharada Vidyalaya, had a fruitful experience, specially their visit to Pammal - the “Enviro Home” of Sri. Indrakumar turned out to be an eye opener and a realization, how simple it is to “Live with Nature”.
The girls expressed their happiness over the practices and have vowed to carryout it at their homes and impress their neighbors also to follow. Giving expression to what they have seen Selvi.M. Parvathi, G. Gayathri, P. Anusha and M. Aishwarya said that solution to garbage is in each one’s hand.
We have to be responsible in ‘not mixing’ garbage at home, introduce perishable waste at home for composting through simple - inexpensive composting through aerobic or vermin-composting methods and handing over recyclable wastes to rag-pickers (who make a living out of this) for appropriate recycling.
By doing so, accumulation of waste at streets is eliminated. The most thrilling experience of their visit was the terrace garden with varieties of medicinal, flowering, vegetable & green plants for our day to day use in a small place. The girls were reluctant to come away from the place. The programme was coordinated by Dr.(Smt) G. Vasundara, Programme Officer, NSS and Sri. R.Govindaraj, Joint General Secretary, Exnora International.
