Annual Day Celebration Of Senior Citizens Bureau

The 18th Annual Day Celebration of Senior Citizens Bureau, the 10th Anniversary of “Linkage” Journal and the 8th World Elder Abuse Awareness Day were recently celebrated. On the occasion a pledge against Elder Abuse was taken by the students and all members present.

A very touching dance was performed by special children. Mr. Prakash H Lulla, Vice Chairman, welcomed the gathering.Dr. M. Singaraja, Chairman, in his address, traced the history of SCB, “LinkAge” journal and World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.

Padmasri Dr. V. S. Natarajan, Senior Geriatrician and Patron of SCB, released “Sweet 18”, a special issue of Linkage. Mr. S. P. Ambrose, IAS (Retd), Trustee of Catalyst Trust and founder of “Adyar Times”, traced the work culture of SCB and highlighted the two projects, viz., solar energy and stopping open defecting in villages, promoted in Citizens Centre of Tamil Nadu. Tmt. S. Revathi, MA, M.Phil, HDCM, Chennai Dist Social Welfare Officer of GOT, extolled all seniors to help in restructuring  the present  broken Homes and Society with their wisdom and compassion.The top achievers of the Little flower HSS for Deaf, were presented cash awards and certificates. The program was graced by more than 80 members, particularly, stalwarts like Dr. Kamatchi, Prof. Dr. S. Ramaswamy, Prof.  Dr. T. S. Kanaka, Vr. R. S. Baabu, Mr. T. V. Hariharan, and Senior Advocate Dr. T. S. Ramaswamy.
