More Flyovers Across The City

The Chennai Corporation Council had recently passed a resolutions giving permission to construct 11 new
lyovers, subways and footpath across Chennai city. At the council meeting at Ripon Buildings, a total of 68 resolutions were passed.

The meeting was presided over by Mayor Saidai Duraisamy. Commissioner Vikram Kapoor and Deputy Mayor Benjamin were also present. Among others, flyovers will come up at the T Nagar MGR Road and Thiumalaipilli Road junction and Valluvar Kottam High Road - Sterling Road Junction, Madhya Kailash Junction near Adyar, Virugambakkam Kaliamman Koil Street - NSK Salai Junction.

It is also reported that tenders will soon be floated for the construction of a pair of flyovers at the Retteri junction at the intersection of Jawaharlal Nehru Salai and Perambur -Red Hills Road.

The busy junction is a crucial link which connects Perambur, Anna Nagar, Red Hills and Madhavaram. The flyover facility is aimed to reduce traffic congestion and ensure smooth movement of vehicles at Retteri signal junction.
