Chennai Metro Rail Limited has been
awarded UITP Integrated Mobility Award for the excellent design in the Chennai
Metro Rail Project ―Better Public Transport through Multi Modal Integration at
Geneva on 27-05-13.
The Award was received by Thiru.K. Prabhakharan, GM
(F&CS) and Thiru. B.S. Srinivas, GM (Stations) on behalf of CMRL.
The
International Association of Public Transport (UITP) is the global advocate of
public transport and sustain-able mobility and the promoter of innovations in
the sector. Construction work for elevated Chennai Metro Rail’s stations at
Koyambedu and MMDA Colony along 100 Feet Road is progressing smoothly.
The
laying of the viaduct in the elevated stretch is 95 per cent complete and metro
rail officials are gearing up to finish the challenge of connecting the link
from Koyambedu to St Thomas Mount. Corporation of Chennai is also getting ready
to provide facilities and improve access to the metro train stations.
