Saving People In Distress

Fire and Rescue Services Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu is entrusted with the task of fire fighting and rescue operations in times of emergency. “We Serve to Save” is the lofty objective of the department and every one of the personnel in the department has the onerous task of saving the people in distress. 

It is the endeavor of the department to ensure that the delivery of services to the public reaches with least delay. Fire and Rescue Service Department prevents fire accidents by spreading fire-safety awareness and also provides standby fire-safety arrangements at large gatherings and important public and private functions.

 Fire and Rescue Services Directorate plays a very vital role in the area of fire fighting and fire prevention. Properties worth crores of rupees are saved each year from the ravages of fire and scores of people have been rescued from fires. Apart from fire fighting, the department also undertakes rescue activities and has saved hundreds of people, marooned in floods, and caught in the debris of fallen buildings, road and rail accidents and other natural and man-made disasters.
