The Jain community in Chennai city celebrated Mahaveer Jayanthi on 24th April 2013 with religious fervor, devotion and charitable schemes.As part of Mahaveer Jayanthi celebrations, free buttermilk, watermelons and curd rice were distributed with great enthusiasm to the passers-by and bus passengers at Thirumangalam by the members of the Shree Anna Nagar Jain Navyuvak Mandal, Chennai.
In Jainism, Mahaveer Jayanthi is the most important religious holiday. Mahaveer Jayanthi is a simple festival that is celebrated by all the Jain people with absolute faith and service for the poor.
