Work is on to
construct flyover pillars near Anna Arch on Poonamallee High Road and at Arun
Hotel bus stop on Nelson Manickam Road. According to Highways Department
sources, a multilevel overpass will soon come up to connect Poonamallee High
Road, Anna Nagar Third Avenue Road and Nelson Manickam Road intersections.
The constructions
of the flyover loops will make the Anna Arch junction stretches totally signal free.
The flyover will consist of many loops. One structure will begin on Poonamallee
High Road near Anna Arch and end on Nelson Manickam Road to enable vehicles
moving towards Nelson Manickam Road from Anna Nagar Third Avenue and from
Koyambedu.
The second structure will begin along Poonamallee High Road near
Nelson Manickam Road and end in front of Government Siddha Hospital on Anna
Nagar Third Avenue. The Highways Department recently constructed an
11-metre-wide bridge at Aminjikarai at a cost of Rs.6 crore adjoining an
existing facility in order to facilitate smooth flow of traffic along Poonamallee
High Road.
