In urban and sub-urban areas the growing of fruits and vegetables is much restricted due to migration of peoples and expansion of residential areas.
Roof gardening is a recent concept primarily intended for continuous supply of fresh fruits, vegetables through the year for family use. Apart from this, medicinal plants grown in roof garden can cure certain human diseases.
Family members residing in urban and rural areas can easily establish and maintain the roof garden.A one day training programme on “Roof gardening” will be conducted by the TNAU Information and Training Centre on 14.03.2013 (Thursday) between 9.30 am to 4.30 pm.
The programme will be useful to house wives, farmers, entrepreneurs, youths, SHG, NGO’s and students, etc. Training certificates, lunch will be issued to all participants. Interested persons can contact the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University on 044 - 2626 3484.
