Parking Menace Below Padi Flyover

Padi flyover was constructed with the aim of reducing traffic congestion. The vacant space below the flyover is used as a parking spot for heavy vehicles. The spot below the flyover can be turned into a paid parking zone for vehicles. It was also observed that most of the heavy motor vehicles (HMVs) are parked below the Padi flyover which is becoming a menace. 

The Highways Department can use the space underneath flyovers as paid parking lots. The parking space can be even maintained by Chennai Corporation. This move will also ensure that the open spaces below flyovers are maintained well. Only flyovers with enough space below can be converted into paid parking zones. Moreover the unused space below the Koyambedu flyover can also be converted into a parking zone by the concerned authorities.
