Bharatiya
Vidya Bhavan, Chennai in association with South Zone Cultural Centre, Thanjavur
(Ministry of Culture, Government of India) is organizing an interactive dance festival
titled Nrithya Bhaaratham with Bharathanatyam, Kuchipudi and Mohiniyattam performance
at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mylapore from 17th to 23rd September
2012.
The event is a comprehensive presentation of three major classical dance
forms of South, namely Bharathanatyam, Kuchipudi and Mohiniyattam,
The
programme consists of performances by experts, informative workshop and interesting
interactive sessions under the guidance of well known and renowned dancers.
Mohiniyattam performed by Gopika Varma on Tuesday 18th September
2012 got an overwhelming applause and appreciation from the audience.
Her dance
moves facial expression was excellent and great.Gopika Varma has performed
extensively at various art festivals, sabhas and temples, nationwide and
internationally.
Her Mohiniyattam is marked by extreme grace and fluidity of
movements, transmitting radiance through expressions that at times sigh with
nostalgia, purity and sanctity, while being blessed with geometrical precision
and technical finesse.
Love for this graceful and gentle dance of soft rhythm
has enabled Gopika to transmit through movement and expressions, her own
personal worship of the Divine. Gopika Varma, as a professional performer and
teacher has received various prestigious award, titles and top honours.
