Huge Metro Rail Depot To Come Up In Koyambedu


The construction work to construct a train depot-cum-yard in Koyambedu for the Chennai Metro Rail has started. The work progress consists of building viaduct ramps to provide access to the depot from Koyambedu station. A multi-storeyed building to house an Operation Control Centre and various offices for depot staff will also come up.

The depot would be used for keeping the trains during non-operational hours and for carrying out various maintenance work. 

It is reported that a huge new depot for the Chennai Metro Rail is to come up on 26 hectares of land at Koyambedu opposite CMBTAt present pillar construction work is going on at CMBT in Koyambedu. 

The pillars for the elevated tracks is going in full speed between Ashok Pillar to Koyambedu. The next step will be laying of the train tracks. 

Work on the stretch between St.Thomas Mount to Airport and near Guindy Kathipara is also in process.
