The National Green Corps (NGC) wing of the Dept of Environment,Govt of Tamil Nadu is organising a one day awareness seminar on "truth about Tigers" at Maharishi Vidya Mandir School, Chetput on 10th January from 9.30am onwards for the 250 teacher coordinators of Chennai district.
Mr.Ramnath ,environmentalist will screen the telefilm and explains its ecological importance, the life cycle and the guidelines for saving tigers in the presence of Mr.S.Padmanaban Chennai North district coordinator.
Mr.G.Thangaraj Chennai East Coordinator will demonstrate the activities to be carried out in schools by the teachers on environmental issues, vermi compost and tree plantations after distributing the grants sanctioned by the dept of environment to all schools. Mr.M.Ravikumar, Central coordinator will explain the important days on environment , water and earth etc.
Dr.S.Thillai Govindarajan from Anna University and South district coordinator will explain the rain water harvest and remote sensing applications in Tamil Nadu. Based on the environmental activities and performances carried out by the teachers during 2011, 3 best teachers from each district will be selected and will be awarded in the next meeting.
