Patch-work Begins On Rain-hit Roads


The Highways Department on Wednesday 9th November began patch work on rain-battered roads in the Koyambedu.

The complete re-laying of the damaged stretches would be done only after the north-east monsoon withdraws. 

Roads such as Inner Ring Road, MTH Road and Ambattur Industrial Estate Main Road were among the stretches where patch work is being carried out

 Many roads in the city have been damaged on account of road cuts and the recent rains. 

The damaged roads include Ennore High road,  Perambur High Road, Konnur High Road, Kolathur Main Road,  New Avadi Road, Anna Nagar Third Avenue, Kaliamman Koil Street etc. According to official sources, the Chennai Corporation has plans to re-lay 121 bus route roads after the monsoon.

City roads will sport a new look by March next year. The work, costing  about Rs. 50 crore, will involve relaying 121 bus route roads which total up to 77.345 km
