Low-lying Bridge Gets Submerged!

Many canals and rivulets are over flowing and tanks are full to the brim due to heavy rains that have been lashing Chennai city  for the last ten days.

Gushing water was seen overflowing above the low-level bridge connecting Pillaiyar Koil Street in Thirumangalam and Koyambedu.

This is causing severe inconvenience to the residents. However, one man  dared to cross the bridge as seen in the photograph.

The bridge that connect Koyambedu to Thirumangalam across the Cooum river  in a pathetic condition. It is  so narrow that it allows only one car to pass at a time.

The bridge has no lights. The bridge is  so low-lying that it always  gets submerged every monsoon . People have to wade through the overflowing water while crossing the bridge putting their life and health at risk.
