A big fire broke out in a transformer unit located on 3rd Avenue Anna Nagar near A-Block and Round Tana junction. The incident happened around 6.30pm on Monday evening, 7th November 2011. The huge flames was were rising. The fire was noticed and controlled due to the efforts of near by shop owners. Buckets of water was poured to control and put off the fire.
Initial reports state that the transformer might had caught fire due to oil and grease. However, it was the united action of the people which controlled the raging fire.
Power transmission was suspended from the transmission until the blaze was completely put out. After a while every was back to normal. There was no harm to people and property.
