It is a nightmarish experience for motorists who daily pass through the Choolaimedu subway in Nungambakkam near the railway station. The traffic jam daily in the peak hours is hellish.
The ever-increasing number of vehicles on Choolaimedu High Road is one of the most harassing experiences for pedestrians in the city. Train passengers who use the Nungambakkam railway station are worst-hit.
The walk of not more than 500 meters from the station to the bus stop is a big risk. Every day the problem is only growing. Pedestrians have to be on guard to avoid accidents. Crossing the Choolaimedu High Road subway is the biggest challenge for motorists. Daily vehicles are waiting jam-packed for the signal on Nelson Manickam Road.
The Choolaimedu subway connects T Nagar, Nungambakkam, Mount Road , Egmore with Anna Nagar. Unless the traffic issue of the Choolaimedu subway and High Road is resolved, the situation cannot be eased.
A flyover from Choolaimedu High Road to Chari Road that leads to Harrington Road. will ease the situation.
