World AIDS Day Campaign

The 1t of December is observed as World AIDS Day. To mark the occasion, a World AIDS Day Campaign was held on  November 2011at Prince Plaza,46,Pantheon Road, Egmore. 

The event was organised by the Anna Nagar based  Indian Community Welfare Organisation - ICWO and Rotary International District RI 3230 & REACH. World AIDS Day this year is about “Getting  Zero New HIV Infections, Zero Discrimination and Zero AIDS Related Deaths. 

Rotarian A.Sampath Kumar District Governor RI District 3230 remarked that Rotary is committed to the object of preventing the spread of HIV/AIDS particularly focusing on younger generation Dr.Venkatakrishnan District Chairman AIDS awareness and control shared that Rotary International District 3230 is committed to the HIV/AIDS prevention, care and support in specific focus with young people.

Dr.Lakshmi Murali Deputy Director TB quoted that TB is not a hereditary disease. Dr.Bimal Charles Project Director APAC said that we need to keep the prevention tempo and ensure zero new HIV infection. Mr.Adithyan Cine Music Director awarded the cups and certificates for the winners. Speaking on the occasion 

Mr.A.J.Hariharan Founder Secretary ICWO said that “Getting to Zero” is not an easy task which needs a commitment for different stake holder and it is possible with the support of different stakeholders. ICWO is committed to take up this campaign for next 5 years in collaboration with various stake holders, and agencies to achieve the goal.
