Speed breakers are installed at busy intersections of Avenue roads in Anna Nagar area which has heavy flow of vehicle movement on both directions. Speed breakers are found at intersections of Avenue roads and Man-Main roads to bring down the speed of the vehicles especially in residential areas, education institutions zones, hospitals etc.
Speed breakers are mainly installed as a safety measure at hazardous sections, approaching narrow and congested roads, sharp curves and uncontrolled traffic junctions. Motorists pointed out that speed breakers should be installed strictly as per the specifications recommended and well painted to ensure better visual at night. Cat-eyes can also be used to enhance night visibility.
The maintenance of the speed breaker is very crucial and should not be neglected. The Traffic Police always adopt important guidelines while providing speed breakers to control the vehicle speed which is a source of danger to the pedestrians.
