Drawing competition for students

The Indian Vegetarian Congress organised as part of World Vegetarian Day celebration 2011. The theme of the event was ‘Be Veg. Be Non Violent’.

Various competitions like drawing, painting, craft work, recitation, fancy dress for students from KG to XII std.

The event was inaugurated by Narendra, Chairman and Managing Director, Indian Overseas Bank.R. Ashok, Kumar Mehta Chairman – Jain Group of Companies was the chief guest and S. P. Sharma, PTM, TM Inspector General, Commander Cost Guard Region (East) was the guest of honour.A mega cookery competition was held for college students under four popular categories of cuisine viz. Indian, South East Asian, International cuisine and deserts & sweets of the World.

All the winners were awarded at the end of the event.The Indian Vegetarian Congress  popularly known as  Veg Congress   blossomed  in the year 1959  enthused by the  enormous  success of the  15th  World Vegetarian Congress Sessions  in India inaugurated by Dr Rajendra  Prasad  the first   President  of India in 1957 . 

The Veg congress and its centres  conduct several events  and the most important of them is the World Veg Week celebrated during the first week of October every year.The celebrations  comprises  competitions on drawing painting craft work recitation  fancy dress  of students. 

This year a mega cookery competition  was also held. The object of the cookery competitions is to  promote innovations and excellence in vegetarian dishes  to  popularize them  to globally.
