Science Awareness Programs For Students

Federation of Science Clubs of Tamil Nadu (FSCT)  is the apex non-governmental voluntary professional service body in the State of Tamil Nadu, engaged in creating science and technology awareness among the students and the general public, as well, under the 'Science for sustainable development' theme. FSCT has a strong network of more than 200 vibrant school and college affiliated science clubs throughout the State.FSCT is the brainchild of ‘Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research – IGCAR’ (then known as 'Reactor Research Centre - RRC)', Dept of Atomic Energy (DAE), Kalpakkam and All India Radio (AIR), Chennai the pioneers in taking science to the people for many decades. FSCT functions as a think-tank for incubating budding scientists. It provides the platform to bring-out their latent talents by conducting a variety of target-specific events, especially in rural regions. FSCT organizes / facilitates the conduct of variety of novel innovative events, contests (quiz, essay, elocution, cartoon, drawing, debates etc), science fairs / exhibitions, workshops, seminars, symposia, demonstrations in science, ‘learning-by-doing’ / ‘activity-based teaching-learning’ practices, educational tours, science rallies / marches, meet-the-scientists programmes, science melas / festivals / celebrations etc.FSCT organizes participatory programmes for the teaching faculty and enables sharpening their skills and knowledge in science communication. 

It conducts many high-impact 'Training the trainers' programmes. It organizes appreciation and refresher courses. FSCT is a pioneer in conceiving and organizing motivational and counseling programme series. FSCT facilitates deliberations on technological advancements and sustainable development. It strives to sensitize our citizens on various environmental issues like global warming etc. It focuses on green and sustainable energy options, especially nuclear power.

 Mr.J.Daniel Chellappa,a senior Scintist,Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research(IGCAR),Kalpakkam demonstrates awareness on Nuclear Energy applications, Chemistry in Crime Detections and Students - Scientist meet and Mr.C.Shanmugham conducts experimental Quiz and awareness on Science behind miracles. 

 This Silver Jubilee high profile Science organisation is Anna Awardee on Environmental awareness from Dept of Environment and an Awardee of Populirisation of Science from the Govt of Tamil Nadu .     Mr.M.Ravikumar,General Secretary told that FSCT organises field trips to Kalpakkam and ISRO soon.
