Cameras enhance traffic regulation

Closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras at Anna Nagar Round Tana signal junction. The Chennai City Police have installed The cameras installed at the traffic signal junctions of Chennai city and its suburbs have been functioning successfully toenhance traffic regulation and help the Traffic Police to book violators. 

Digital Zoom and tilt high-tech cameras are located at Ega Theatre signal point, Mount Road-Spencer Plaza junction, Central Railway Station, Nandanam junction,  Eldams road junction, Vadapalani, Adyar LB Road, Besant Nagar-MG Road, Anna flyover, Koyambedu, Padi and Kathipara grade separators etc. 

Suburban signal junctions at Pallavaram, Chromepet, Tambaram, Velachery, Porur have also equipped with cameras. All the terminals from the cameras is connected to a computer and linked to the main server at the Commissioner Office and Police Control Room. 

The cameras help the Traffic Police to keep watch on the movement of vehicles at the signal junctions. The traffic rules violators caught in the act in the cameras. The vehicle numbers are noted and fine notice would be sent, says a Senior Traffic Police officer.
