The NSS Units I & II of Shri Krishnaswamy College for Women organized a “Road Safety awareness rally” on 13th September 2011 with support from Lions Club of Madras Pasumpon.
The students of the college used a bullock cart to symbolize the impact negative of using cell phone while driving, and possibilities for accidents when signals are deliberately violated.
The Principal Dr.K.P.Malathi Shiri welcomed the gathering, while Lion A.V. Kumaresan gave a brief insight into the need for safety rules adherence. Mr. Nirmal, President, Exnore, flagged off the rally, which was headed with a group of students displaying placards and a traffic signal model on a cart.
The college staff & students were dressed in the tri-color of the signal – namely red, yellow & green to signify the importance of the signals in traffic regulation.
Hand bills on safety awareness information compiled by Lions Club were distributed to the public during the rally. The rally was organized by Dr.M. Girija & Mrs. Chandrika – NSS programme officers of the NSS units I & II of the college.
