Chief Minister Edappadi K.Palaniswami flagged off 471 new buses on 10 October 2018. Chennai MTC is now operating one new bus on route number 102 (Broadway to Kelambakkam. MTC officials stated that soon new buses would be added to the existing fleet including proposed electric buses. Chief Minister Edappadi K.Palaniswami had also inaugurated a new moffusil bus terminal at Madhavaram for operating SETC buses to north bound places and had renamed CMBT Koyambedu bus terminal as Puratchi Thalaivar Dr M G R bus terminus with effect from 10th October 2018.Chennai bus commuters while welcoming the new buses stated that MTC needs to upgrade and improve its services and add more new buses on the road.
