Igniting the minds of the youngsters

Bharat Ratna Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, the 11th President of our nation left a great void behind on Monday, 27th July, 2015 with his shocking and untimely death rendering the entire nation speechless. Millions mourned the loss of their great "marg darshak" (guide), the epitome of absolute knowledge for every ambitious youth. He spent his last breath in the manner he loved most, igniting the minds of the youngsters with his lofty thoughts to make a ‘Liveable Planet Earth’.

Velammal has had the great privilege of honouring the visionary in their college, the humble gesture of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam escorting Smt Velammal to her car is a sight to behold even today. He is called the “People’s President” not for his contribution to science alone but for his simplicity, humility inspite of being a much sought after celebrity. The Velammal Educational Trust has an entire building named after the “Missile Man” to inspire the intellectual minds that walk through their campus. Velammal pays homage to Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam by observing two minutes silence on this ‘Black Day’.
