Tambaram Community Development Society is nonprofit organization started in 1985 and implementing programmes for people who are living in below poverty line. The main focus of the organisation is in implementing programmes to encourage poor school children. The organisation also helps women who are living with HIV/AIDS through monthly care support, income generation programmes for their livelihood. Special coaching for the girl students who are appearing public examination, sponsorship programmes for the girls who are perusing colleges studies in rural villages are undertaken.
Tambaram Community Development Society is freely giving school kits to the children who are studying in primary classes for the past 6 years. 355 children were benefitted through this programme from 10 villages in Kundrathur block. This year the function was held in a Government High School at Somangalam. Dr. Pro. Gnanasekaran, Principal of Sri Devi Arts and Science College, Ponneri was the chief guest, Mr. B. Sreenivas, Manager, Bank of India, Tambaram also participated and distributed the school kits.Mr. A.Dhanaraj, Director of Tambaram Community Development Society thanked Dr. Donald Messer, Director and Ms. Pamila Merrill one of the senior consultant of Centre for the Church and global AIDS who sponsored for this programme.
