The Probus Club of Chennai organised the “International Elders Day” Celebrations jointly with the Russian Centre of Science and Culture (RCSC), Chennai.Former Supreme Court Judge and Former Chairman, Law Commission of India, Dr. AR. Lakshmanan was the Chief Guest. The Chief Guest lauded the Probus Club for having sent its suggestions for consideration on the Bill, “The Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act-2007” before the Bill is introduced in the Parliament.
The Probus Award of Excellence was awarded to Shri M. Radhakrishnan, Founder & Managing Trustee, Sri Rajeswari Radhakrishnan Charitable Trust, Nanganallur, Chennai in recognition of his exemplary services rendered to the poor and visually challenged.
A book titled “Probus Way to Graceful Ageing” was released during the function. The first copy was received by Sri S.N. Srikanth, President, Rotary Club of Madras. Mr. Mikhail Gorbatov, Director, RCSC also addressed the gathering. Ms. Jyoti Agarwal, President, Inner Wheel Club distributed Prizes to the winners of the competitions for Senior Citizens conducted earlier by the Probus Club of Chennai. Shri K. Lakshmipathi, Secretary proposed a vote of thanks.
