Social Achiever Award Ceremony

Shri Krishnaswamy College for Women, Anna Nagar had proudly inaugurated its maiden Social Achiever Awards Ceremony on the 28th August 2014. The awards have been instituted by the college to honour people for their selfless service to the society. The College Principal Dr.Malathi Shiri welcomed the gathering and introduced the Chief Guest Ms Sarah Arokiaswamy, Regional Director of ICSI Chennai. A presentation showing the achievements of the awardees were arranged. The awardees were introduced and felicitated by Mr.Arun, Managing Trustee and Director of Krishnaswamy Educational Trust.

The five awardees were namely, Mr Mathew, CEO of Paperman which recycles paper. Dr.Deepa Muthaiya, founder of Dean Foundation that offers palliative care for terminally ill cancer patients. Mr.Sreedhar was awarded for bidding a gracious farewell to the unknown souls by conducting last rites for abandoned bodies. Ms.Prema Revathi was awarded for giving voice to the issues of Dalit community and working for their empowerment. Mr.Venkatramam was awarded for assuaging the pangs of hunger for the underprivileged by providing Rs 1 meals on a daily basis to the attendants of patients admitted in Erode Government hospital. The Chief Guest and the awardees addressed the gathering. The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Ms.Bharathi.
