As part of the Madras Week Celebrations, a Walk around Perambur and ICF was held on Sunday, 31st August 2014. The group was guided by Harry MacLure and Stafford Mantel. The visit to the ICF Regional Rail Museum that displays heritage steam engines and railway coaches was an interesting and informative experience for everyone in the group. Going on a joy train ride, looking at realistic train models and important railway historical facts made the visit even more interesting, enjoyable and memorable.
Harry MacLure, Editor and Publisher of “Anglos In The Wind”, was happy that key landmarks in Perambur that was in the Walk’s schedule were well appreciated by the participants. Stafford Mantel, Director of Factura Solutions, conducted the tour and brought out little-known facts about Perambur, the pre-dominantly Anglo-Indian locality, and was happy to have been a part of the Walk.
Apart from local participants, there were two guests from Melbourne, Australia, Marguerite and Ashley Gerrard, who enjoyed the walk and appreciated the efforts taken by the organizers. The visit to the ICF railway museum gave them a chance to take a few Indian railway train models as souvenirs back home to Australia.
