Traffic snarls are common at Arumbakkam

Traffic snarls along Poonamallee High Road are common along various road intersections in and around Arumbakkam area. Traffic congestion between Anna Arch and Koyambedu are a routine and effective measure to decongest is the need of the hour. Few places at Arumbakkam are narrow and cause traffic jams during peak hours. The flyover work at Anna Arch and Nelson Manickam road is another reason for traffic snarls.

 Vehicles moving towards Central and Nungambakkam have to wait for a long time to pass the Anna Arch signal junction. Traffic police officials stated that they are taking steps to improve traffic movement along Poonamallee High Road. More over the MMDA signal junction has become another busy intersection. High rise apartments, retail outlets, hospitals and education institutions are all centered on Arumbakkam which is fast developing. Steps to regulate and prevent traffic from going out of control needs to be taken by the traffic authorities.
