‘Guru Poornima’, was an auspicious day on which disciples expressed their reverential love to their gurus was celebrated in a traditional way at Jaigopal Garodia Vivekananda Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Anna Nagar on 12.07.2014.The significance of the occasion and the transition in‘Guru Sishya Parampara’ over the years were delivered through speeches rendered by students in Tamil, Hindi and English. Dr.Aandavar, Associate professor, Department of Tamil, Pachaiyappa’s College, Chennai was the chief guest for the day.
Students of classes III to XII presented bouquets to teachers and received their blessings, touching the guru’s feet. A group of students from Std XII were blessed by the chief guest. This ceremonious veneration went on for a few minutes while the choir group rendered bajans, glorifying Lord. Shiva, Dhakshinamoorthy and Lord Muruga. A skit portraying the benefits an ideal student may reap was staged. Dr. Aandavar,in his address citing the lives of Chatrapathi Shivaji, Sri Ramachandra, Dr. Abdul kalaam and a few others reiterated how the student community ought to revere the Teachers. His message was interspersed with a lot of humorous, yet thought provoking anecdotes. The function concluded with National Anthem.
