Majority of Anna Nagar residents want to see Railway station reopened

It is officially reported that almost 80 per cent of people in Anna Nagar West have stated that they want to see the Anna Nagar railway station reopened. Train service form Beach to Anna Nagar Railway station which was opened in 2003 was closed for the construction of Padi flyover. Till today, train service has not started. The Anna Nagar and Padi railway station premises are lying unused. The Anna Nagar railway station wears a deserted and ugly look.

If the train service is restarted it would be a huge help for the residents of Anna Nagar. Also a pedestrian over bridge on Otteri Nallah from Thendral Colony First Street, connecting Malar Colony in Division 95 of Chennai Corporation Zone-8 could improve connectivity and patronage at Anna Nagar Railway Station. Most of the Anna Nagar area residents are eagerly waiting for the Southern Railway officials to re-introduce the train service.
