Students learn interesting facts on weather and climate change

World Meteorological Day is celebrated every year to highlight the huge contribution made by the National Meteorological and Hydrological Services towards the safety and well-being of society. The theme for this year's World Meteorological Day theme is “Weather and climate: engaging youth." World Meteorological Day is observed on 23rd of March every year since 1961. 

To mark the occasion, about 45 students from Chennai Corporation Girls Higher Secondary School, visited the Chennai Numgambakkam Meteorological Center as part of World Meteorological Day. During this awareness trip, students were briefed about climate, disasters, rainfall, wind and cyclone.

G.Thangaraj District Coordinator, NGC guided the school students. The students had an active interaction with Ramanan , Director, IMD, Chennai. During the visit, the Corporation School students acquired lots of interesting information about weather and climate system.
