Chennai Metro Water is carrying out desilting works in various parts of Anna Nagar area in a bid to ensure that sewers do not get clogged during rains resulting in inundation of streets.
Metro Water officials stated that regular desilting of manholes and sewer main are conducted using jet rodding machines to prevent the drainage chamber from overflowing on the road.
According to official sources, new jet rodding vehicles and machines were procured recently by the Metro Water Board to remove and clear sewer obstructions.
