The Post Office situated on the 1st Floor of Anna Nagar Western Extension shopping complex, School Road, Thirumangalam is lying in a pitiable condition. The building walls, side walls and the portion of roof have developed major cracks.
The walls near windows have also developed cracks. The Treasury room which has important documents and valuables of customers has developed cracks.

The entire premises in which the Post office is functioning is in a dilapidated condition and is unsafe for the postal department staff and the public who visit daily for various postal services.
It is reported that a new post office building is under construction now! However, it may take some more time for the post office to move to the new premises. Shri V.Nagasundaram, Secretary of Anna Nagar Welfare Association stated that as a safety measure temporary renovation and repair work can be carried out immediately to avoid any untoward incident in the near future.
