Environment Awareness Programme

The Department of Environment, Government of Tamil Nadu organised a human chain with 385 students of National Green Corps (NGC) movement from various schools, colleges, District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) and Teacher Training Institutes from Chennai , Thiruvallur and Kanchipuram Districts to create awareness among general public. 

The event took place on 16th September 2013. Dr.H.Malleshappa IFS, Director of Environment department spoke on the

importance of protecting the Ozone layer. He also stressed the year's theme on Ozone Day. He flagged off the Human Chain and stresses the importance of the day observed every year and joined hands with NGC students. Chennai District NGC Coordinators G.Thangaraj, M.Ravikumar and N.Padmanaban organised the NGC students to gather and actively participate in the awareness programme in large numbers.
