Anna Nagar Main Roads Needs Better Regulation

There is always dangerous criss-crossing of vehicles, especially by two wheelers at the signal junction of Shanthi Colony 4th Avenue and 3rd Avenue stretch, Anna Nagar. Motorists’ making sharp turns from A-Block streets and Shenoy Nagar add to the chaos and hinder safe pedestrian movement. Though there is an automatic traffic signal, most of the motorists do not bother to stop and give a chance to the pedestrians to cross the road.

The one way stretch of Shanthi Colony 4th Avenue has become an ordeal for pedestrians. Only during peak hours both in the mornings and evenings traffic policemen are found regulation traffic movement at busy intersections at Anna Nagar and Thirumangalam area.

Motorists find it difficult to navigate the intersections of 5th Avenue, 12th and 13th Main Road as there is movement of vehicles from all directions. Chennai City Traffic Police Department are doing their best to regulate traffic movement. Better regulation and creation of separate pedestrians crossing spots will be very helpful to the public, especially the Anna Nagar area residents.
