New Pedestrian Facility By Highways Department

Construction of the long-awaited foot bridge at the junction of Jawaharlal Nehru Road and School Road, Anna Nagar Western Extension is now in progress. With Metro Rail work, most roads in Anna Nagar had turned into one-way stretches.

There is no traffic signal at many such places and it is risky and dangerous to cross the road. Foot over bridges will help in safe crossing. At present safety barricades are placed at the junction of 100 Feet Road, 6th Avenue and SBOA School Road to prevent mishaps at the intersection near Thirumangalam Police Station.

Pedestrians have to daily risk their life while crossing 100 Feet Road near School Road and 6th  Avenue intersection. Only during peak hours a traffic constable is found at the spot. The rest of the time people have to cross the busy 100 Feet Road at their own risk. Many residents and welfare associations have highlighted the issue to the Police department and are awaiting a positive action until the pedestrian facility gets completed.
