Appreciated For Literary And Philosophical Thoughts

Dr.Portko, Former Vice-Chancellor of University of Madras delivered a talk on the subject titled “Mudhumai Oor Anubhavam” (Experience of Ageing) at Chinmaya Vidyalaya School, Belly Area, Anna Nagar on 8th June 2013 at the open session of the 26th AGM of Tamil Nadu Senior Citizens Association. Delivering his talk Dr.Portko stated that it has always been a tradition with the Tamil society to hold its elders in a highly respected and reversed position. Tamil Literature is replete with instances showing how they were held esteem and respected for their knowledge and wisdom. 

The interesting and informative talk was greatly appreciated by the audience for its Tamil literary and philosophical thoughts. Mr.V.Veerabadran, President of Tamil Nadu Senior Citizens Association welcomed the gathering and introduced the chief guest. Mr.D.Rajasekaran, General Secretary gave a brief account of the history and growth of the association. Dr.N.Rajalakshmi, Secretary proposed the vote of thanks. In the Business Session that followed, all the items of business listed on the agenda were gone through.

The General Secretary’s report; audited Annual Accounts and Budget were approved. Auditor for the current year was appointed and ten resolutions relating to welfare measures and benefits to senior citizens were passed.
