Elevated Metro Train Stations Are Getting Ready


The Koyambedu-St Thomas Mount Metro line which is currently under construction will be the first Metro line to open in Chennai. Soon metro rail trains will be operated along elevated Koyambedu-St Thomas Mount elevated section. Work on the Koyambedu Railway station and Alandur elevated station are progressing well. The Koyambedu elevated metro station will serve the neighbourhoods of Koyambedu, Koyambedu vegetable market, and Koyambedu Private Bus Terminus.

 According to official Chennai Metro Rail sources, installation work of Escalators and Lifts has commenced at CMBT Station. The installation work on lifts have also commenced at the Administration building. Lifts are to be installed at different levels in all 32 Metro Stations to facilitate easy mobility of all Passengers including differently abled and old age persons. 

Assembling and lying of points and crossings at Depot has started at Koyambedu and work in progress. A senior metro rail official said "Extensive trials will be conducted along the elevated line before services are opened to traffic.
