Anna Nagar Pedestrian Footpath Gets Renovated

The damaged pedestrian footpath along Anna Nagar 3rd Avenue, near Shanthi Colony Signal junction was renovated by Chennai Corporation on 10th May 2013. The Chennai Corporation will also start removing encroachments along pedestrian facilities based on a list submitted by the Traffic Police.

As a step towards removal of encroachments, traffic police officials had initiated a survey of all the encroachments on footpaths along bus route roads in Anna Nagar area.

It is officially reported that Chennai Corporation has also began work on building new granite pavements along Chennai city roads. The granite pavements will be built along 70 roads including main stretches in Anna Nagar, Shenoy Nagar and Arumbakkam. Chennai Mayor Saidai Duraisamy stated that the new granite pavements are individually designed to suit a specific road and will also be disabled-friendly.

The project has been launched with ’Chennai City Connect’, an NGO ( Non- Government Organisation) that deals with transport and urban planning.
