Protest At 13th Main Road

Protests against the Sri Lankan Government are gathering momentum. A protest was staged against the Sri Lankan Government along, 13th Main Road, Anna Nagar on Sunday evening, 17th March 2013. The protesters raised slogans against the Sri Lankan Government and demanded action for the alleged human rights violation and war crimes.

The protesters demanded justice and requested the Government of India to support the U.S. sponsored resolution against Sri Lanka in the United Nations Human Rights Council at Geneva. Later the protesters were taken into police custody.

As a public safety measure, over 40 policemen were deployed at 13th Main Road corner and at Thirumangalam junction area to avoid any incidents. A series of protests and demonstrations including hunger strikes by college students are taking place across Chennai city and Tamil Nadu State in support of the Sri
Lankan Tamils.
