The recent heavy rainfall caused water stagnation in many
roads and streets in Anna Nagar. Every time when it rains, there is severe
water stagnation along Second Avenue Road, Nehru Nagar near Thirumangalam
junction. Shop owners stated that water stagnation is a frequent problem and no
effective steps have been taken by the concerned civic authorities.
It is
reported that even a small spell makes walking or driving difficult due to
heavy rain water stagnation. An effective drainage system will prevent water
stagnation. Storm Water Drainages are constructed and maintained by Chennai
Corporation to relieve stagnation in low-lying water logging areas.
The area
residents request the civic authorities to find a permanent solution to the
problem of water logging along 2nd Avenue which is a busy and main
road in Anna Nagar area.
