According to official
sources, the State Government has approved an alternative alignment for the
flyover project coming up at the junction of Poonamallee High Road, Nelson
Manickam Road and Anna Nagar Third Avenue. Work on the new flyover design is
likely to commence shortly.
The flyover will have four sections and the loop pillars
along Apma Skywalk Mall are getting ready. Motorists coming from Nungambakkam
would be required to take the flyover to go to Anna Nagar and Poonamallee High
Road. The Highways Department has spent about Rs.64 lakhs on renovating and beautifying
the Anna Arch, which surely is an important landmark of Anna Nagar area.
