Slow Infrastructure Development

While South Chennai witnesses infrastructure development, the situation in congested North Chennai remains grim. The interior roads and bottlenecks continue to be neglected as is evident from the work on two bridges, which was taken up five years ago but is yet to be completed. Residents of North Chennai can expect smoother traffic flow with a flyover in Mint junction, a rail over-bridge at Cochraine basin road and road under-bridge at Monegar Chowltry Road.

The Korukupet over bridge is a long-pending demand of residents of the area and when it is completed it would ease congestion in the highly populated Korukkupet. Residents and motorists in north Chennai are irked over the inordinate delay in the construction of the much-awaited Mint flyover and Stanley level crossing subway. Chennai Mayor Saidai S. Duraisamy had inspected the bridge construction work and has ordered the officials to speed up the project.
