Cyclone-Grounded Ship Draws Huge Crowds

MT Prathiba Cauvery ship that ran aground in Cyclone Nilam has now become a giant exhibit on the seas off the east coast. MT Prathiba Cauvery drifted to the waters off Dooming Kuppam, near Santhome. Many people are visiting the beach to take a look at the ship.

The ship, which ran aground off Adyar Creek may be taken to the Port area for investigation. In a bid to prevent pollution off the Marina, the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) has asked the Coast Guard to move the stranded ship.

A week ago the ship anchored off the Chennai Port and ran aground off Elliot’s Beach, Besant Nagar. The vessel would be docked at the Chennai Port Trust after salvation.
