Metro rail expects to complete laying of
tracks on the 12-km Koyambedu-St Thomas Mount elevated stretch by 2013.Placing
of tracks are progressing fast on the viaduct between Koyambedu and Vadapalani
along 100 Feet Road.The stretch will serve as a showpiece for the project and
trains are likely to be operated on the elevated line by the end of 2013.
Station buildings are also taking shape at Koyambedu, Vadapalani, KK.Nagar and
Alandur. Viaduct pillars are been raised over Guindy Kathipara.
It will be the
highest point of elevation for the metro line.Metro rail contractors have
started to build pillars in the space between the clover-shaped wing on the
Porur side and on the Le Meridien side of the grade separator.
The proposed
elevated St Thomas Mount Metro Rail station would integrate various modes of
public transport, namely Southern Railway, Metro Rail, MRTS and MTC buses.The
project is expected to be completed in 2015.
