Chief Minister J.Jayalalithaa
inspected renovation work of Anna arch which commenced from 26th September 2012.
According to official sources, restoration work would be
completed in a few months as the damaged steel rods would be replaced and
strengthened with additional rods.
A higher grade of cement concrete would be
used to provide additional strength to the structures. The crane holding up one
of the arches would be moved in few days.
The arch located at the junction of
Poonamallee High Road and Anna Nagar 3 Avenue will be renovated, strengthened
and beautified.
The arches were constructed to mark the platinum jubilee of
former Chief Minister C.N. Annadurai.
It was inaugurated by the then Chief
Minister M.G. Ramachandran on January 1, 1986.Residents of Anna Nagar have
welcomed the speedy restoration measures taken up for the twin arches.
