International Conference On AIDS Awareness And Prevention

Indian Community Welfare Organisation – I.C.W.O has been approved to host an AIDS 2012 conference hub or “mini-conference” to strengthen the local HIV and AIDS response in the area and to create new opportunities for partnership and to disseminate the latest research to the community. Dr.T.Illanchezhian, Directors – Program, APAC, VHS-USAID inaugurated the AIDS Hub 2012. Ms.Esther Mariaselvam, Regional Manager, and Actionaid India was the chair for AIDS Hub 2012.

 This was the first time where a Hub for an international conference has been organized in South India, Chennai for the core and vulnerable population. The event had created an opportunity for learning international issues, advancement of human rights, new learning in terms of HIV/AIDS prevention care and support. 

The key presentations were on innovation, new strategy and approaches in advancement of knowledge on HIV/AIDS, Human rights and issues related to violence. The selected 6 presentation were presented by Ms.Devika Thilak,District Resource Person ,LWS – VHS, Dr.P.Mahalingam, Senior Program Manager ,Care & Treatment, APAC, Mr.Y.Charles,TI Thiruvallur District, ICWO – TANSACS,  Ms.Anbuaarasi, Tamilnadu State Program Officer, Hindustan Latex Family Planning Promotion Trust – HLFPPT, Mr.Murali, Centre for Sexually and Health Research and Policy ,C-SHaRP, Mr.I.Magbool Shareef, District Resource Person – Training, LWS Project, ICWO.Speaking on the occasion Mr.A.J.Hariharan, Secretary ICWO shared that
